This guide describes key steps for developing a well-thought-out plan for evaluating an SSIP. The guide provides considerations for how to incorporate each step into an evaluation plan, as well as a series of worksheets that correspond to each step and can be used to facilitate the planning process. The guide, along with its corresponding worksheets, is intended for TA providers to use in partnership with state staff.

This presentation provides an introduction to the SSIP evaluation process and an overview of key steps in planning an SSIP Evaluation. The presentation references a set of worksheets that can be used to facilitate the planning process. In this episode of A Date with Data, host Amy Bitterman has a heartland heart-to-heart with Kelly Wojcik, Director of Accountability, and Jamie Chambers, Part B Data Manager, with the Nebraska Department of Education. Join us to learn more about their hopes and dreams for the state’s data processes and their plans for moving beyond a “that’s how it’s always been done” mentality to one as wide-open as the Nebraska plains.

IDEA allows, and sometimes requires, LEAs to use funds provided under IDEA Part B for CEIS students not identified for and receiving special education and related services. There are multiple data collection and reporting requirements associated with use of these funds for CEIS. IDC staff reviewed and led a discussion on how a diverse subset of states and their LEAs are working to meet those requirements.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires states to monitor and enforce IDEA Part C and Part B requirements, with a primary focus on those requirements that are most closely related to improving results and functional outcomes for infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities. To support states to carry out these monitoring responsibilities, A State Guide on Identifying, Correcting, and Reporting Noncompliance with IDEA Requirements describes the IDEA requirements related to identifying noncompliance, making findings of noncompliance, correcting and verifying correction of noncompliance, and federal reporting on compliance and correction of noncompliance in the state’s SPP/APR. This guide is based on the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) Memo 09-02: Reporting on Correction of Noncompliance in the Annual Performance Report Required under Sections 616 and 642 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the OSEP Frequently Asked Questions on Identifying and Correcting Noncompliance and Reporting on Correction in the SPP/APR.

This companion resource to A State Guide on Identifying, Correcting, and Reporting Noncompliance with IDEA Requirements summarizes the responsibilities of local early intervention programs or Local Education Agency, state Lead Agency or State Educational Agency and data that needs to be reported to OSEP on compliance, correction of noncompliance and verification of correction for SPP/APR indicators.

This session described success gaps and a process for identifying root causes of success gaps in achievement, graduation rates, or other results. This process can help teams dig deeply into a variety of data sources to identify and develop a plan to address gaps when not all students are experiencing equitable opportunities for learning and progressing.

The webinar featured the purpose and history of the Annual Report to Congress on the Implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, its current organization and content, links to the report and its data sources, and suggestions for how participants can use the report. The webinar was designed so that participants would have a greater understanding of why it is important to work to improve the quality of IDEA-related data by seeing how the U.S. Department of Education uses IDEA data to meet an annual statutory requirement to report to Congress;. In addition, it was designed to help participants become familiar with a key resource on state and national IDEA data and related information and prompt them to think about how they might use the resource.
