Building State Capacity About Key Measurement and Evaluation IssuesThe workshop focused on three IDC SSIP white papers: Implications of Growth Modeling for SSIP; Performance Indicators As a Tool for Measuring Progress Toward a SIMR; and Considerations for Making Changes to SIMR Baseline and Targets. During the workshop, participants were able to talk to and learn from participants from other states and provide input for the development of IDC white papers that address growth modeling, measuring progress toward a SIMR, and changing baseline and targets. The three white papers are currently in draft form and undergoing revisions based on input from the field. Published papers will be posted to the IDC Resource Library and affiliated as companion resources to the handout posted for this session.

The Power of Data: Leveraging the Role of Data Managers to improve ResultsThis session examined the strategic role data play in state agency decision making by exploring how data managers can more effectively use their role to promote public reporting, data awareness, data utilization, and systems change. Presenters paid particular attention to data governance, cross-department information sharing, timely data access, distribution, usability, and analysis, along with examples of best practice from practitioners in the field to ultimately improve student results.

Benefits of Using Integrated Data Systems to Support the SSIPThe presentation addresses the value of IDEA data managers and staff working with data from systems integrated with general education and early learning programs. Viewers can learn how integrated data can support the SSIP to provide a comprehensive integrated view of children/students, schools, and programs to improve outcomes for children and their families. It defines baselines and targets in the context of SSIP, illustrates the importance of baselines and targets, and provides reasons for a state to propose changing its baselines or targets.
