Writing an Effective FFY 2019 State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report
Experienced IDC staff guided states through the process of State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report writing. Presenters detailed guidance OSEP provided for the reporting process and will draw upon their years of experience to provide helpful tips that have proven effective for other states. Participants learned about common issues or pitfalls in report writing and how to find solutions prior to submitting their reports. Presenters shared effective and complete writing samples along with less effective samples. Staff from North Carolina shared the state’s writing experiences and lessons learned.

Using State Data to Inform Parent Center WorkThe purpose of this presentation was to introduce PTI and CPRC directors and staff to the IDEA data collected and reported by state education agencies and discuss how these data can be used to inform many of the fourteen priority topics for the PTI/CPRC network. These priorities were identified in the most recent OSEP requests for proposals for PTI and CPRC funding.

Using Compliance Data for Program ImprovementIt can be challenging to bridge the huge shift from a focus on solely compliance-driven data to an emphasis on results-driven monitoring. Compliance data can be hard and fast; results-driven data can be harder to pin down. This topical burst provided an overview of compliance data, the interrelationship between compliance and results data, and existing processes that can help bridge the gap between accountability and program improvement.

Reporting and Using Data to Ensure Successful Transitions in Early Childhood WebinarThis webinar highlighted the IDEA state reporting requirements for early childhood transitions for both Part C and Part B, found in the SPP/APR Part C Indicator 8 and Part B Indicators 11 and 12. Participants shared resources related to transition, data collection, and reporting, as well as the use of both Part C and Part B data to facilitate high quality transitions. North Dakota's Part C coordinator and data manager and Montana's 619 coordinator and data manager described how their states collect and use transition data to ensure smooth transitions for all young children as they turn three and move from early intervention services to preschool 619 services.

For the purposes of the report, the term “state” is used for both states and jurisdictions. The report, which covers Part C Indicators 1 through 11, can be downloaded.
