    Beyond Data Submissions: Communicating Your Data to Stakeholders

    This session focused on how to best communicate high-quality data by applying different strategies to prepare data for dissemination and use. Topics covered in this session included the importance of understanding the audience, how stakeholder needs can vary when understanding and interpreting data, why data governance is a key component in planning data communication activities, and why accessibility is important. This session highlighted sections of the Data Use component of the IDEA Data Center Part B Data System Framework.

    Where Do They Go? Capturing Accurate Part C Exiting Data

    The presentation explored challenges that states and local regions face in accurately capturing Part C Exiting reasons. The IDC Part C Exiting workgroup has been developing a tool to assist with these challenges. The presentation was interactive, drawing on the experiences of new and seasoned data managers.

    What's in a sample: When to adjust your sampling plan!!

    IDC staff joined the NPSO Community of Practice call December 11 to present examples for states to consider that would constitute a change of their sampling plans. Staff explained how states can get TA on sampling from IDC. The call also offered a refresher on the NPSO sampling and response calculators that states can use for their SPP/APR work.

    Building a Culture of High-Quality Data

    Panel participants included staff from the DQC and the Georgia Department of Education. DQC staff discussed the role of education data and the opportunity to go beyond compliance, the need for focusing on policy priorities, and new opportunities the Every Student Succeeds Act presents. Georgia Department of Education staff shared their story about how the state has built a culture of data use from state-level infrastructure development to getting the data into the hands of teachers who are using the data to have a positive impact on improving student results.

    Want to Integrate Your Data? Let’s Start at the Beginning

    Staff beginning a data integration effort within their state must first establish a clear purpose for integration. Focusing on the first step of integration during this session, CIID staff helped participants refine the purpose and use case for integrating their data. Also, participants used the CIID Data Integration Toolkit to develop a plan to ensure key stakeholder understanding of the purpose for, and improve their support of, data integration efforts in the state.
