Back-to-Basics on Meeting IDEA Section 616 Public Reporting Requirements

Time and Date

Overview

In this webinar, participants learned what the IDEA Section 616 public reporting requirements are and what IDC resources are available to help them understand and meet the requirements. Presenters reviewed the data states must publicly report regarding the performance of LEAs based on SPP targets. Presenters introduced IDC’s new Section 616 Local Reporting Toolkit for Part B and Part C that states can use to clarify what they are required to publicly report (including public reporting best practices), how they can report, timelines they need to meet, and how privacy issues can affect public reporting efforts. Presenters demonstrated how states can input data into IDC's Part B Indicator Data Display Wizard and generate visual displays they can post to their website and disseminate to stakeholders through other media. In addition, presenters discussed how public reporting can go beyond meeting compliance requirements to be part of a larger systems approach to making data accessible to the public and usable for multiple purposes. The webinar offered basic information about meeting state 616 public reporting requirements for state staff who are new to their positions or are interested in a refresher on the topic.
