Back-to-Basics on Meeting IDEA Section 618 Public Reporting Requirements

In this webinar, participants learned what the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Section 618 public reporting requirements are and what IDC resources are available to help them understand and meet the requirements. Presenters discussed IDC’s infographic on Section 618 Public Reporting Requirements,the Part B and Part C Public Reporting Modules of IDC’s IDEA Data Training Modules,  and IDEA Section 618 Public Reporting Data Element Checklists for Part B and Part C that states can use to clarify what they are required to publicly report (including public reporting best practices), how they can report, timelines they need to meet, and how privacy issues can affect public reporting efforts. Presenters demonstrated how states can use the IDC Public Reporting Tool to link to visual displays of their state-level Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) published data, which they can disseminate to stakeholders and use to fulfill public reporting requirements. In addition, presenters discussed how public reporting can go beyond meeting compliance requirements to be part of a larger systems approach to making data accessible to the public and usable for multiple purposes The webinar presented basic information about meeting state 618 public reporting requirements for state staff who are new to their positions or are interested in a refresher on the topic.
